Women of Pōneke: Hidden Stories of Our City

We’re ending the year with an invitation to rediscover the hidden and magical delights that make Wellington the city we love.

Pōneke is a city of contrasts, wild and urban, creative and political. Its hidden stories are all around us, waiting to be noticed and celebrated. We’ll take inspiration from the Wellington Writers Walk; a trail of words and ideas scattered along the waterfront that invites us to pause, notice and listen.

We are delighted to welcome Dame Fiona Kidman as our special guest. As one of the original founders of the Walk, she will share why this project was so important to her and the inspiration behind it. As an esteemed New Zealand author, Dame Fiona brings a wealth of experience in storytelling, creativity, and reflection that we hope will inspire us to all explore our wonderful city.

We will be serving wine, beer and amazing non-alcoholic drinks, inclusive in the ticket price. Platters will also be shared throughout the evening.

To cover our costs, we are charging for this event. We know that things are tough at the moment for many, so if this is a barrier for you to attend, please contact us and we will do everything to support you to attend.

Me.We.Pōneke is our signature quarterly event designed to inspire, connect and raise the voices of our wonderful community of Wellington women, and people who identify as women. 

We believe that magic happens when women come together. We’ve seen it. We’ve felt it. And we want to create more of it with regular events that are open, welcoming, supportive and empowering for the women of Wellington.
