Event description
The Carpentry for Gardeners - make a bench focuses on the specifics of building for outdoor and rough conditions. You’ll learn about suitable hardware and techniques for outdoor construction, along with tips and tricks for prolonging the life of the things you build.
It covers the fundamentals of tool use and techniques, including:
• Confidence in your ability to use the following tools correctly and safely – hand and power saws, drill drivers and measuring equipment.
• Learning to measure and cut accurately
• Practice simple joinery using drills and screws
• Familiarise yourself with the workshop environment, practices and health and safety
In this introductory unit, you’ll make a small garden bench to take home with you.
Bench dimensions -Â 850mm long x 430mm high x 320mm wideÂ
Morning tea (tea, coffee, and biscuits) is provided. BYO lunch
What you bring: Yourself.  All tools and materials are included in the registration.
What to wear:  old clothes you won't mind getting dirty and sturdy closed-toe shoes.
Cancellation/Refund policy
At WOTT we keep our classes small to optimise your learning experience. Any cancellations or transfers, therefore, have an effect on our ability to deliver these classes (and may even result in the cancellation of the course). Please consider your dates carefully prior to booking.
Our cancellation and refund/transfer policy is as follows:
- cancellation up to 7 days prior to the course: full refund or transfer to a new course date.
- cancellation up to 2 days prior to the course: 50% refund/no transfer. You will then be required to rebook into the preferred course.
- cancellation less than 48h prior to the course: no refund or transfer available.
