WOMEN ONLY Introduction to Carpentry - Make a Box

The Women on the Tools Carpentry series is developed for beginners, who have no previous experience with tools or in workshops. It is a confidence building introduction to simple carpentry skills, and covers the fundamentals of tool use and workshop techniques.  In this 1-day course you’ll learn about basic wood types, preparation, sawing, cornering, and construction

The Introduction to Carpentry - make a box course allow participants to apply their learning as they construct a wooden box to take home.

It covers the fundamentals of tool use and techniques, including:

· Confidence in your ability to use the following tools correctly and safely – hand and power    saws, drill drivers and measuring equipment.

· Learning to measure and cut accurately

· Practice simple joinery using drills and screws

· Familiarise yourself with the workshop environment, practices and health and safety

What is provided - All tools and materials are included in the registration.  Morning Tea (tea, coffee and biscuits) is provided.  You will need to provide your own lunch.

What to Wear – weather appropriate clothes you are happy to get dirty in and sturdy closed-in shoes. We provide safety glasses and ear protection.

In this introductory unit, you’ll make a wooden box to take home with you.
