Women+ Out and About: Picnic, Play, Pride

Join us for a day in the park - a chill, joyful outdoor gathering where you can picnic, play, and just be your fabulous self. Whether you’re tossing a frisbee, serving up some pickleball, or just lounging on a blanket with good company, there’s space for you here. Come as you are, bring snacks, bring friends, and let’s queer the park together!
Family-friendly event. If your partner is not women+ they are still welcome to join.

Women+ event: Embracing women, transgender, and non-binary individuals, recognizing and respecting the diversity within the group and promoting an inclusive approach to gender equality.

Where:
Windsor Park (Old Ottawa South)
1 Windsor Avenue, Ottawa
(18 minute walk from Billings Bridge if using public transportation)

When:
- May 17 - 11:00am - 2:00pm
- Rain date (May 18)

Amenities:
- Parking lot, street parking as well
- Wading pool, Children’s playground
- Bathroom
- Picnic tables - not too many but there are some
- Benches - a few surrounding various areas
- 4 tennis/pickleball courts
- Walking trail - tree covered
- Biking / Walking paths along the river
- Small boat launch - Rideau River

Recommended to bring:
- Sun hat - There are trees but more along the water line where people are walking and biking
- Sunscreen, sun glasses, insect repellent
- Camping chair, blanket, towel
- Frisbee, outdoor games - there’s plenty of flat grass
- Water, refreshments and snacks
- Tennis or Pickleball racket, balls. Good shoes - no flip flops on courts please! There are 4 courts available. 30 mins play limit if people are waiting.
- Bicycle - There are biking paths if you choose to go for a little ride
- Kayak, paddle board - Flat water. There is one small boat launch 5 min walk from parking lot just past the tennis courts

Be Aware:
Leashed dogs are permitted. The dogs are allowed to swim in the river. Please be mindful if you are bringing a dog. Let’s be safe and responsible with our pets and be aware of everyone’s comfort level.

This is a community gathering in a public park; alcohol may not be permitted depending on city by-laws. We encourage everyone to look out for one another and help keep this a safe, fun, and welcoming space for all.
