Event description

The National Congress of Women
How can women rising change our response to climate change?

The National Congress of Women is an initiative of the Women’s Climate Congress to lead a women’s movement for collaborative action on climate change. Over several online events and a face-to-face conference in mid-2022, the National Congress of Women will include deep conversation and learning, authentic connection and community building, artistic expression, collaborative action planning, and interaction with elected representatives.

Starting with our Day one event on 30 November, these gatherings will build towards a public declaration from participants about achieving climate balance and protecting life on Earth for current and future generations.

Day One of the National Congress of Women — Women rising. Why women? Why now?
30 November 2021, 10.00am-5.00 pm (online)

This launch event will focus on the urgency of climate change and the importance of women's voices. We warmly invite all women, from all walks of life, to this nonpartisan gathering. This is an opportunity to be part of   building a women’s movement for change on this global issue that affects us all. We'd love to see you there.

Please note:  The program will now conclude at 5.00pm instead of the previously advertised time of 4.30pm.

What you can expect from the Day One program

We will explore women’s responses to climate change; First Nations approaches to governance and environmental management; and the experience of women in politics and other leadership positions. We will consider what systems changes would allow full participation of women on equal terms with men, particularly regarding fundamentally important policy issues such as climate change.

At this event you will also have the opportunity to engage with a range of interesting and committed women, including:

See details of the program here.

Artistic expression will be integrated throughout the day along with plenty of revitalising breaks and activities to mitigate Zoom overload.

About fees

The Congress is run by volunteers and we have kept our fee as low as possible with a full fee of $50 and a supported fee of $25. A recording of the program will be made available after the event to all who register.

You decide what is within your capacity to pay. If you experience economic disadvantage, we invite you to pay the lower supported fee, or if that is too much, to have a conversation with us to work out a way to get you there.

If you can, we invite you to offer a little more via donation to enable us to offer a place to a woman unable to pay and/or to support the work of the Congress.
