Women's Health Grampians 2024 AGM - Equal the Contest - Gender equality on and off the field

Women’s Health Grampians holds an Annual General Meeting every year. An AGM is a standard governance obligation for a not-for-profit organization. Importantly however, it is also an opportunity for the Board, Members and staff to come together and celebrate. We launch our Annual Report and acknowledge the hard work and achievements of the past year.

We also take the opportunity to motivate, educate and inspire. In past years we have heard from terrific keynote speakers who have all embodied our feminist, intersectional ethos in different ways. We have also enjoyed performances, panels and discussions that have spoken to our shared commitment to increasing gender equality across the Grampians region.

At our 2024 AGM we will be discussing gender equality on and off the field including special guest Mitch Nivalis, filmmaker, photographer and advocate for change.  Mitch's presentation will touch on their own journey as highlighted in their film Equal the Contest - When a 42 year old, non-binary filmmaker joins a new local women’s footy club in Regional Victoria a simple desire to play becomes a complex journey of inclusion and belonging. An unexpected turn of events meant the team had to fight to play. Their campaign challenges age old sporting traditions and joins the wider movement for gender equity. 

Panel discussion
After the keynote, Mitch will be joined in a panel discussion by three local sporting figures, all working with the challenges of equalling the contest and working towards gender equality on and off the field.  We are honoured to welcome:
