Welcome back to our regular series of women's, non-binary and trans open mic nights in Byron Bay.

With the likes of acclaimed comedian Kate Payne acting as MC - she's bringing on-board some of the top women, non-binary and trans talent in the area as well as all the up-and-comers she can muster!

Come for a laugh and some inspiration - you can even come to perform (if you contact Kate in advance)

For $10 a ticket, this show is the best deal in town! Food specials on the night at the acclaimed Karkalla restaurant in Byron Bay - owned by indigenous LGBT celebrity chef Mindy Woods.

Kate Payne (MC)

Kate Payne is a stand up comedian living and laughing out of the northern rivers. Kate grew up in the United States and cut her teeth in comedy in New York City where she performed stand up with the likes of cult icon Janeane Garofalo, MTV’s Theo Von, and The Tonight Show’s Jessica Kirson among others. Kate has a background in improvisational comedy studying for four years at the Upright Citizens Brigade after earning a prestigious scholarship to study and perform. Today Kate enjoys herself by performing all over Queensland and NSW, and has her own breakfast morning show on Bay FM 99.9, Monday Funday.

Grace Hogan (Headliner)

Grace Hogan turning on microphones all the way down the east coast of Australia with her outlandish physical humor and quirky observations. Gracing stand-up comedy stages of the Northern Rivers, Gold Coast, Brisbane, sydney and Melbourne for the last couple of years whenever she is not going global on Social Media. Wow’ing the Queensland RAW Comedy State Final, smashing the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and founding Fruit Cake Comedy are just some of Grace’s comedic trophies. Find out more at greacehogancomedy.com or peep @grace.your.self on Instagram.

Karkalla (Venue)

Karkalla Byron Bay is the passion project of Mindy Woods, proud Bundjalung woman of the Widjabul Wia-bul clan. Featuring locally sourced, seasonal produce and native indigenous ingredients, ‘Karkalla’ is a nod to Mindy’s indigenous heritage as a proud indigenous woman.

Mindy returned to country to follow her dreams of opening her own venue in Byron Bay, fuelled by a desire to create opportunities for indigenous and non-indigenous people to connect with Aboriginal culture, art and stories through food and to increase indigenous representation in both the hospitality and agricultural sectors.
