    Event description

Our vigils will be quiet and dignified, no speeches, just standing quietly for 30 minutes holding our signs to remember our hostages.

Please wear white to symbolise hope and solidarity, and let’s stand together for justice and human dignity.

Vigils will be held in the CBD in Melbourne, Sydney, Perth and Brisbane. Exact locations to be confirmed by email the day before the event.

"Today on December 10, UN Human Rights Day, Jewish women's and communal organisations remind their fellow Australians that human rights apply to all people.

On October 7, 2023, Hamas terrorists violated the human rights of thousands of innocent Israeli men, women and children in the most heinous attack on Jewish people since the Holocaust. They murdered babies, children, men and women in their homes, in their towns, while they slept, and at a music festival. 254 innocent human beings were abducted as hostages.

We deplore the exclusion of Jewish people from the world's care for human rights. There are still 101 Israeli hostages being held by Hamas and other terrorists in Gaza, none visited even once by any human rights organisations.

Hillary Clinton famously said at the UN Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing in 1995, "women's rights are human rights".

13 of the remaining hostages are Israeli women, who are suffering unimaginable ongoing sexual, physical and psychological abuse.

Jewish women's rights are human rights too, and we call for the immediate release of them all."
