Learn the principles of haiku through an expressive arts approach

Led by Maryam Mermey PhD, in a relaxed environment, participants will compose & share haiku outside in the beauty of nature. Each week a Japanese writing prompt is offered such as makoto: honesty, sincerity, unaffectedness & openness in haiku & temenos: a fragrance of the sacred, the holy place. Participants also experience the playful joy of writing collaborative haiku.

Registration: $5 per person

Maryam Mermey
Maryam Mermey has a PhD in Arts, Health & Society, an MEd in Arts & Education, an MA in Counseling Psychology and a BA in Dance & Poetry. She is a widely published haiku poet as well as creates photohaiku with her husband, which they share through exhibits & publication. Maryam currently offers international expressive arts haiku presentation workshops & circles. Most recently her haiku appear in “Mindful Renku: The Spiritual Journey of Linked Verse" by David G. Lanoue,” a renowned authority on Kobayashi Issa.
