Event description

Visit the Monarto Woodlands and discover the rich birdlife of the region. Guided by bird expert John Gitsham, you’ll learn how to identify woodland birds, explore the habitats that support them, and pick up tips on best-practice birdwatching. We will record the species we observe to complete a bird survey as part of our time together.

Spring is the perfect season, with flowering vegetation, nesting activity, and plenty to observe. Together, we’ll also contribute to conservation by completing a bird monitoring survey to record the species we encounter.

The Monarto Woodlands is one of the region’s birdwatching gems, with more than 100 species recorded. Its unique mix of remnant and planted vegetation creates a fascinating blend of Mallee and Hills habitat - offering lots to experience for bird lovers of all levels.

Afterwards, stay around for a cuppa and a chat! Please BYO coffee cup so we can reduce waste.
