Creating Accessible Word documents
Event description
This course includes a video of a screen reader user using Word documents.
This is followed by training on developing accessible Word documents and includes the following principles of document accessibility:
Text
Titles and headings
Meaningful sequence
Color and color contrast
Tables
This is combined with specific instructions and exercises on creating the following in Word:
Setting language
Using and creating styles
Creating accessible lists and links
Writing alternative text for images
Creating accessible tables
Creating columns
Merging image groups
Creating accessible watermarks, references, footnotes, endnotes
Creating accessible text boxes and providing alternatives
Creating accessible headers and footers
Creating Table of Contents
The Accessibility Checker will be demonstrated, as well as why it is not always accurate.
Attendees work on a document of their own choosing throughout the day.
