Description

Some things are easier to say with our hands than with words alone. Word Weaving brings together creative writing and nature weaving as complementary tools for emotional processing and connection, writing what needs to be written, then weaving it into something tactile and lasting.

Enjoy a catered morning tea as you move between page and loom, guided through prompts designed to help you process, release and reconnect.

What you will gain from this experience:

  • Nature Weaving: crafting a simple loom from foraged materials to weave flora, words and intentions through.

  • Creative Writing: exploring various forms of writing (including journalling, poetry, and microstories) for creative self expression and emotional release

  • Nourishment: indulge in warm beverages and catering by ByGeorgies with the company of others leaning in to their creativity

  • Nurturing: gentle guidance and encouragement from Tiarn in the presence of our Fairy Godmother of Feelings (highly experienced and compassionate mental health accredited social worker)

  • Tools for Self Expression: You'll take home a journal, a pen, writing prompts, and the woven creation you make during the session as a physical reminder of the words and feelings you worked through.

A mental health accredited social worker will be joining us for the session, think of them as our emotional fairy godmother.

This workshop is not therapy, an emotional excavation or violent catharsis, but writing can sometimes stir things up when we least expect it, and we want you held and supported if it does. We will be immersed in Tiarn's first solo exhibition, 'GROWING PAINS: The Immersion' and exploring its themes of love, loss, grief, motherhood, womanhood and nature through our exercises, so extra care has been taken to ensure adequate support for any feelings that may arise in this space.

PS.
You don't need to be "a writer" to immerse in this workshop. You don't call yourself a swimmer before you can swim, or a breather just to breathe, so show up exactly as you are and know that you belong here.

If you'd like a copy of Tiarn's debut poetry collection, Growing Pains, at an exclusive bundled price, you can select the "add on" option at checkout.
