Online ATAR Workshop: Study Strategy for Effective Writing
Event description
Join Wandi writing tutor, Tara Auty, for the first online Word Catcher Learning Academy ATAR Workshop focused on developing study strategy for effective writing.
Over her years of studying and tutoring, Tara has noticed that academic writing underperformance is often reflective of much more fundamental problems that start long before a student has picked up a pen or set their fingers on a keyboard.
The first workshop in the inaugural Word Catcher Learning Academy ATAR Writing series is focused on those fundamental problems. In order to write optimally in an ATAR exam setting, students need to have strategies to manage a range of things that affect their writing ability - their long-term mental health, their shifting mental state, their conceptual understanding, their access to relevant evidence and FINALLY, the specific skills required to express their learning in writing.
Tara has repeatedly seen student performance rise when they are taught to think about their writing ability holistically, and this workshop is about delivering that knowledge to students as they prepare for their ATAR exams in order to help them develop sustainable and healthy study strategies. This workshop is not specific to a curriculum subject, but rather, it is about priming students to be able to ace the written components of a variety of ATAR exams.
The Online Workshops will all be hosted on Google Classroom. Video Modules will be accessible for students to view at a time convenient to them from Sunday September 26th. There will be 4 scheduled live group check-ins via Google Meet on Sundays for 4 weeks, until the start of the ATAR examination period. Details of the Google Classroom will be sent out once tickets have been purchased.
