Course Overview

This nationally recognized course provides participants with essential skills and knowledge to work safely at heights. Through a combination of theoretical instruction and practical training, participants will gain an understanding of workplace hazards and best practices for fall prevention.

The training covers key aspects such as the hierarchy of hazard control, the forces generated in falls, and specific hazards like the pendulum effect, swing back, and suspension trauma. It also includes guidance on the selection, inspection, application, and maintenance of height safety equipment, including harnesses and anchor points. Additional topics include the safe use of ladders, temporary scaffolds, and elevated work platforms (excluding WP certification).

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Implement safe work systems and practices to prevent falls
  • Identify hazards and assess and address risks
  • Select, fit, use, care for, maintain, and store PPE correctly
  • Select, use, care for, and store tools and equipment required for height work
  • Understand emergency response procedures
  • Apply safe methods when working on brittle and fragile materials

Delivery Method

  • Classroom (Theory): Participants will receive structured instruction on safety protocols and best practices.
  • Practical Training: Participants will perform work at heights safely, utilising a Job Hazard Analysis (Risk Assessment).

  • Cost: $762.50

• Once you have registered, all further correspondence for this course, including enrolment forms, tax invoices and any important updates, will come directly from the Onslow Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
• Cancellation Policy: There is a 14-day cancellation policy; cancellations made within 14 days of the scheduled course will not be eligible for a refund.
• Appropriate PPE must be worn on the day - long sleeve shirt, long pants, work boots, gloves and hard hat.

• No food or catering provided at this course
