Working Group | Shutdown & Turnaround Management
Event description
This working group will focus on Shutdown & Turnaround Management
While your routine maintenance activities are planned, scheduled and executed as per ‘business-as-usual’ techniques, the critical difference between daily operations and shutdowns is INTENSITY.
The huge volume of tasks executed simultaneously and dramatically increases the risk in safety, quality and cost.
With maintenance workgroups able to swell significantly, the value of optimising work programs to balance maintenance needs with plant uptime is clear.
Weak systems can hide in plain sight when work levels are moderate. When they are as INTENSE as shutdowns, there is simply no hiding.
In some respects, they are the ultimate test of system strength.
Common shutdown issues
- The shutdown strategy and event plans aren’t current, sufficiently detailed or followed.
- Work scope definition and management is often poor, with additional work being added to scope in the weeks preceding execution without rigorous evaluation planning.
- There’s no effective mechanism to give visibility of progress.
- Too often, specific maintenance task information is incomplete or inaccurate.
- There is often a failure to recognise the importance, and work demands, of the first and final phases of shutdowns.
This working group will bring together businesses that face these common problems and expose the strategies employed to overcome them.
Don’t miss this fantastic opportunity to share with and learn from other businesses within your network.
