Event description

Working Effectively with Interpreters

A tailored session for service providers in the Greater Shepparton area

Monash University’s Translation and Interpreting Studies program, with support from the Greater Shepparton City Council, is developing a regional training package for non-professional translators, interpreters, and bilingual workers. As part of this initiative, a dedicated session has been created specifically for service providers in the Greater Shepparton region.

Join us for an engaging, hands-on workshop designed to support professionals who work with interpreters in community and service settings.

Discover the vital role interpreters and translators play in ensuring effective communication, the importance of working with NAATI-certified practitioners, and key ethical considerations. Through interactive activities, including role plays and real-life scenarios, you’ll build practical skills to confidently and effectively conduct interpreter-assisted sessions.

Presenters: Chao Wang, Dr Ran Li (TBC) and industry colleagues from Northern Health (TBC)
Date: Friday, 13 June
Time: 11:30 AM – 1:30 PM
Location: University of Melbourne, Shepparton Campus

Don’t miss this opportunity to strengthen your professional practice and enhance your intercultural communication skills.

For further information about this project, please contact Dr Leah Gerber, via email: leah.gerber@monash.edu

This activity is funded by the Australian and Victorian Governments in response to the October 2022 flood event which impacted Victorian communities in Greater Shepparton.
