Enhancing Workplace Cultural Safety from a First Nations and Multicultural lens

Tier 1: Diversity and Inclusion Champion

This 3-part masterclass workshop builds on knowledge and is developed for businesses working or intending to work with First Nations and Multicultural peoples. The multi-tiered approach provides participants with the skills to enhance cultural safety with First Nations and Multicultural clients and employees. The participants will enhance their knowledge and skills towards creating a culturally safe and inclusive environment for First Nations and Multicultural peoples. The workshop utilities self-reflection, introspection and the application of knowledge and skills to understand  values, attitudes and perspectives from a First Nations and Multicultural lens.

Two women, Bianca Hunt and Zeljka Jovanovic, from First Nations and Multicultural backgrounds, have partnered in the spirit of reconciliation to develop and deliver this workshop on Enhancing Cultural Safety in the Workplace.

Bianca Hunt is the founder of FLW Connect consultancy. She is a Gumbynngirr woman with kinship ties to the Barkinji mob and currently lives and works on Dharawal speaking Nation. Her passion to build partnerships and connections has led her to work in both the Aboriginal and generalist not-for-profit, government, and the corporate sector. Over the last 20 years she has gained extensive knowledge and experience in organisational culture safety, service delivery and outcomes, crisis support, suicide prevention, community engagement, and training & facilitation. As a trainer and assessor Bianca has worked in counselling, engagement, crisis, and cultural safety to improve workplace practices, she is also an active volunteer currently serves on a Reconciliation Working Group and as President of the JCII board . Bianca has coached, trained, supervised, and tailored training within workplaces to increase inclusive practices on the local and national level. She understands that for genuine reconciliation and cultural safety we need to hold space to reflect, learn and take action with people from all backgrounds to create impact and sustainable change within the organisations.

Zeljka Jovanovic is the founder of Apeiron Skills. She was born in Former Yugoslavia and arrived as a young refugee woman in Australia. Zeljka has over seventeen years of experience working in the community service industry. She supported clients from refugee backgrounds with settlement, integration, employment, and connections to the services and broader community. Zeljka has experience in leadership and mentoring staff, including those from multicultural backgrounds. Her expertise extends to the education sector, where she has been teaching community services and mental health subjects and delivered numerous trainings across NSW and ACT. She worked with numerous people from diverse backgrounds, and her greatest achievement is being part of someone's journey to a better life and positively impacting our community. Zeljka is dedicated to creating an environment where everyone feels included and has opportunities to thrive.

We look forward to seeing you at the workshops
