Workshop 4_ Risk Management - Applying Safe and Together Model with Risk Assessment and Management Framework (RAMF): Strengthening the Response Pathway for DFV
Description
Virtual Workshop
Workshop 4 - Risk Management
Applying Safe and Together Model with the Risk Assessment and Management Framework (RAMF): Strengthening the Response Pathway for DFV Screening, Risk Assessment and Risk Management in the Northern Territory
This interactive virtual workshop is the final workshop in the Safe and Together Model and RAMF Integration Workshop Series and provides a deeper exploration of the risk management part of the response pathway. Participants will build on earlier learning from the Overview, Screening and Risk Assessment workshops to strengthen their understanding of how the Safe and Together Model and the Northern Territory Risk Assessment and Management Framework (RAMF) work together to support effective, collaborative and safety-focused risk management practice.
Using Empowering Growth's DFV Response Pathway Integration Tool, participants will explore how Safe and Together practice can strengthen responses following assessment by maintaining a focus on perpetrator accountability, child safety, survivor strengths and coordinated intervention. Throughout the workshop, participants will use the DFV Response Pathway Integration Tool as a practice guide to apply Safe and Together concepts within the RAMF risk management pathway. The workshop focuses on translating assessment information into practical actions that reduce risk, increase safety and support sustainable outcomes for adult victim-survivors and their children.
This workshop explores:
Maintaining perpetrator accountability within risk management responses
Using perpetrator patterns of violence and abuse to inform intervention and safety planning
Developing child-centred risk management responses that address each child's individual experience
Recognising and building on survivor strengths and existing protective strategies
Applying pattern-based professional judgement to prioritise interventions and actions
Avoiding incident-focused responses by maintaining visibility of perpetrator behaviour over time
Strengthening information sharing and multi-agency collaboration
Using Safe and Together and RAMF resources to inform safety planning and risk management decision-making
Enhancing coordinated responses that increase safety while reducing burden on victim-survivors
Applying the Safe and Together practice lenses within the RAMF risk management part of the response pathway
Through case studies, group discussion and practical application activities, participants will strengthen their ability to translate assessment information into meaningful action. The workshop focuses on developing risk management responses that increase safety, support children and protective parents, maintain perpetrator accountability, and strengthen collaboration across services and systems.
As the final workshop in the series, participants will consolidate their understanding of how Safe and Together practice can be applied across the entire RAMF response pathway, from screening and identification through to risk assessment and risk management, to support safer and more effective responses to domestic and family violence.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this workshop series, participants will be able to:
Understand how the Safe and Together Model and the NT Risk Assessment and Management Framework (RAMF) work together to strengthen domestic and family violence responses.
Identify opportunities to strengthen DFV screening and early identification across the response pathway.
Recognise how a trauma-informed, perpetrator-pattern-based approach can support the identification of coercive control, child impacts and survivor protective efforts.
Describe how Safe and Together Model concepts can strengthen RAMF risk assessment processes, including consideration of harm, risk and danger.
Identify key principles that support effective risk management, safety planning, perpetrator accountability and interagency collaboration.
Apply the DFV Response Pathway Integration Tool across screening, risk assessment and risk management.
Reflect on individual and organisational opportunities to strengthen integrated practice and improve outcomes for children, victim-survivors and families.
Develop practical actions to embed learning within their own role, team and organisation.
