WORKSHOP Contact Improvisation about Words, Words about Contact Improvisation
Description
ABOUT:
What can words do in a practice that asks us to listen beyond words? Moving between dancing, speaking, writing and scoring, we'll explore the relationship between language and movement as a two-way exchange.
How might words help articulate embodied experience, direct attention, transmit knowledge or expand possibilities in the dance encounter?
When might they obscure, simplify or constrain what we perceive?
Inspired by the resurrection of <proximity magazine> and drawing inspiration from the practices and writings of Steve Paxton, Nancy Stark Smith, Nita Little, Lisa Nelson, Ray Chung and Martin Keogh, Angi & Doreen will experiment with language as description, provocation, score and shared inquiry.
