    ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP

In this unique workshop you will learn how to draw, and paint vulnerable Forest Red-tailed Black Cockatoos from life. Carnaby Crusaders have kindly agreed to bring two of their educational cockatoos to Ellenbrook Art Gallery, all the way from their home in Bindoon. You will have a rare opportunity to observe them closely, and to draw them while they interact with the group of participants. You will then use these drawings to create a painting. Experienced artist and workshop facilitator, Fiona Rafferty, will guide you throughout the day.

CARNABY CRUSADERS: Based in Bindoon, WA, Carnaby Crusaders was established in 2021 by Dean Arthurell in response to the diminishing numbers of Carnaby Cockatoos, and extensive land-clearing that continues to threaten the species. Artificial Breeding Hollows are built by Carnaby Crusaders, and strategically placed on private land-holdings around the state, encouraging Carnaby Cockatoos to breed, and ensure the continuation of the species.

Part-proceeds from this workshop support the building of artificial nests that assist in rehabilitating and increasing the populations of endangered cockatoos.

A list of supplies will be provided on booking. Please note that tea and coffee are available, however you will need to bring your lunch.

We look forward to seeing you on the day!

From the team at Ellenbrook Arts
