WORKSHOP: Hands On Apiary & Plant Sale
Event description
We’re excited to announce two brand-new hands-on beekeeping workshops this month, open exclusively to members and their guests!
Dates:
-
Saturday, April 19
-
Saturday, April 26
Time: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
What to Expect:
- Hive inspections – Learn how to go through a hive, spot the queen, and identify eggs, brood, pollen, and honey stores.
- Swarm management – Participate in a hands-on demo of how to safely move a swarm into a permanent box.
Bonus: Plant Sale + NUC Giveaway
Melissa will also be holding a pollinator plant sale during the workshops. Melissa has graciously decided that she will donate one of her 5 Frame NUC of bees during each workshop.
Spend $50 or more and be entered to win a 5-frame NUC with bees**
- April 19: NUC with an older, queen-right colony
- April 26: NUC from a rescued swarm which will include a new Queen Cell
⚠️ Important:
Please remember to bring your own protective gear (suit/jacket, gloves, veil) to participate in the hands-on activities.
During these sessions, participants will have the opportunity to suit up and go into the hives under the guidance of our expert beekeepers. Learn best practices, get your questions answered, and gain practical insight into what to expect throughout the season.
Advance registration is required for each workshop, and spaces are limited, so don’t delay! We need a minimum of 5 people in order to hold the event. Capacity is capped at 20.
PLEASE NOTE: If you plan to attend both workshops, you MUST sign up for each separately.
Bonus: While you’re there, be sure to check out the plant sale happening on-site—no registration needed for the sale (please note, there will be no garden tours during these events).
We look forward to seeing you at one (or both!) of these informative and interactive workshops!
