Workshop: International Humanitarian Law
Description
Join Australian Red Cross for a workshop on international humanitarian law – also known as the laws of war.
International humanitarian law is a set of rules which apply during armed conflict. It protects persons who are not or who are no longer participating in hostilities and restricts the means and methods of warfare. It seeks to uphold humanity in conflict and prevent the worst at the worst of times.
Meet our team, learn about what we stand for, learn about our work in Australia and overseas, as well as volunteering opportunities.
A short presentation will be provided by Australian Red Cross on the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, the laws of war, and our work in Australia and overseas. You will have the opportunity to engage in activities and a scenario-based exercise to put your learning into practice with the support and encouragement of the Australian Red Cross team!
The workshop will take place in the courtyard of the Avid Reader Bookshop. Stay for a cuppa and a chat. Tea and coffee will be provided.
