Event description

Learn how to make a botanical drawing using graphite powder at this special workshop with Katharine Allard!

First, we will find inspiration in the Botanical Art Worldwide 2025 exhibition, on display at Rokowhiria, Ashburton Art Gallery and Museum until 07 December. Then, we will use graphite powder to make our own artwork. With this technique, we start by erasing our drawing before adding back the detail! All materials are provided.

Katharine Allard holds an MFA and is an exhibiting member of The Botanical Society of New Zealand. Katharine works in metalpoint and graphite to complete detailed plant drawings that illustrate the intertwining of plant life with our past, present and future.
