About the workshop: 

In this sewing class, you will learn how to make a classic, minimalist linen tote bag with guidance from a friendly instructor from start to finish. In this workshop you will learn how to sew a flat felled seam, attach an external facing and apply decorative topstitching. This workshop is suitable for beginners and advanced makers. The instructor will provide a range of options from simple to challenging to ensure that you select the right finishes for your skillset to keep you challenged and engaged.  

Included in workshop ticket:

  • Your own tote bag!
  • All equipment necessary, including a sewing machine, fabric and notions
  • Light refreshments
  • New knowledge about sewing techniques

  • Your own sewing machine if you would like

About the facilitator: 

Sewn with Joy provides sewing workshops, home kits, and made to order garments to those who are hoping to upskill in their sewing practice and who appreciate well made, natural fibre garments. Our silhouettes are simple, leaning on high quality fabrics to do the talking. This means the making process is rewarding without being complex, and the end result is sure to be beautiful. 

Jade Duncan has completed a diploma of pattern making at AICD in 2018 and trained under George Wu (bridal couture) and Kaye West Studios, having the privilege of being mentored by Kaye who has many decades of experience in garment manufacturing. 



COVID-Safe Policy:

Please be assured artisan has well considered COVID-safe protocols regarding our workshop programming. You will be offered socially distanced seating, access to your own PPE sanitation options at your workspace, and a large extremely well-ventilated workshop venue.

Workshop Cancellation Policy:

Please note this workshop can be cancelled by artisan due to unforeseen circumstances or if minimum numbers are not reached. In this event participants will be refunded accordingly and as soon as possible.

Participant Cancellation Policy:

Workshops have limited spaces and involve preparation by the facilitator. Bookings cancelled up to one week prior to the start of the workshop may be refunded, but a 20% non-refundable administration fee will be deducted. Bookings cancelled within a week of the workshop commencing will NOT be refunded. Refunds are to be processed by the attendee through Humanitix. 

Workshop Transfer Policy:

You may transfer your booking into an alternative workshop up to one week prior to the start of the workshop. Any difference in cost will be charged accordingly. Please endeavor to complete any transfers at least one week prior to the workshop. You are also welcome to transfer your booking to another person prior to the workshop commencing. Please confirm this arrangement in writing to programs@artisan.org.au.
