Workshop: Reimagining a well-functioning and climate-friendly city

This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

Women in Urbanism invite you to join Alex Bonham, author of Play and the City, and sustainable mobility engineer Ellie Craft to consider what the well-functioning city might look like. You will learn how the streets and spaces we take for granted were originally formed and how they could change again to encourage our more climate friendly modes of transport and living. The team will share some stories, insights, and urban planning tools, you bring your imagination and a pencil. Please also come with an idea of your worst and best street, worst and best public spaces, and worst and best housing and together we will consider a few examples of where things went right and where things went  wrong!

An important climate action is removing 'unnecessary' car trips from our network and enabling our sustainable modes of transport. Ideally our regular journeys are very short, but this will mean considering where and how we live.
