Workshop: Seeding Futures
Event description
The fight for Seed sovereinity is a global struggle for systemic change.
Why should every citizen of this planet be concerned about the polycrisis around seeds?
We all need to eat live, in order to eat we need seeds to plant our food, but who owns the seeds?
Join us in this workshop to address global crises linked to seed sovereinity and food production, as well as how they intersect with intellectual property, seed laws, farmers rights, global conflicts and climate crisis.
We will also look into examples of how to fight for seed /food sovereignity, get inspirations from graasroot communities in crisis creating emergent, just, equitable , healthy and sustainable systems of seed and food production and distribution.

The 15th Garden:
The 15th Garden is a bottom-up network of urban gardens in cities and family/farmers networks in the rural areas of Syria since early 2014 that had developed while the revolution. People created tools to defend food sovereignty in the harshest conditions in places that were bombed, disconnected and besieged. Access to seeds was always at the centre of this work.
The involved farmers, gardeners and activists were never willing to stay passive while what they at the time called was the biggest humanitarian disaster of recent history was taking place. This movement with its practical skills is ready to stand by all the people who are affected by the war. “Defending food sovereignty at times of war” was the main slogan. What does this mean, for the network and for the region, now some years on?th
