Event description

Join Natalie Martin in the magnificent Lanyon Homestead garden for a day of relaxing painting and sketching, inspired by the late summer and early autumn blooms. The workshop will focus on a mixed media, line and wash technique to capture the seasonal beauty of the gardens and landscape. This class is all about loosening up and having some fun creating simple florals or landscapes in a expressive style.

Natalie will guide you through a couple of warm-up exercises before approaching a final piece for you to take home. This workshop is suitable for beginner/intermediate watercolour artists.

All materials are supplied, just bring your creativity and sun protection as the workshop will be held outdoors. In the case of poor weather, workshop will move to the marquee, and bring some blooms from the garden indoors as inspiration.

This is a rare opportunity to catch Natalie in Canberra as part of her 2026 tour of Australia. Natalie is an artist based on Wadawurrung Country (Surf Coast, Victoria). She works primarily in vibrant watercolour, drawing deep inspiration from the landscapes and native flowers she explores. Her current work reflects a deep connection to trees—their quiet strength, shifting forms, and their ability to ground and heal us. Learn more about Natalie here: https://nataliemartin.com.au/
