Application Acrobatics: Insight & Tips For Juggling The Job Hunt

Applying and interviewing for employment is inherently stressful, but with some thoughtful preparation, you can approach the process with increased confidence and agility. Our discussion will address sourcing job opportunities, application related documents, and the interview process, as well as common differences in the process between positions at community colleges and universities. Although we will focus on positions in academia, much of the material covered is applicable to other types of employment searches. 

Instructor Bio: 

Seth Papac’s trifurcated practice involves teaching and mentoring students, researching and producing one-of-a-kind conceptual jewelry and owning and operating Seth Papac Jewelry, a limited production jewelry company. Before joining the faculty at RISD, he served as department head of Metal at The Oregon College of Art and Craft and previously taught full-time at San Diego State University and The University of Oregon. Papac holds a BFA from the University of Washington and an MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art and has received several awards and grants, including the Louise Comfort Tiffany Foundation Award and the Toby Devan Lewis Fellowship. His work is exhibited and published internationally and is included in numerous permanent collections such as the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, Museum of Fine Arts Houston, Cranbrook Art Museum and the Rotasa Foundation.
