World Bank Action Day
Event description
Take a Stand Against Factory Farming at the 2024 World Bank Fall Meetings
Join the Stop Financing Factory Farming campaign, the Big Shift coalition and allies in a World Bank Day of Action on the final day of the World Bank Annual Meetings! We are demanding the World Bank stop financing factory farming, a key driver of climate change and collective harm. The World Bank Annual Meetings bring together the two largest Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs) – the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) – to make decisions that shape global poverty, climate change, and food security. This is our moment to make our voices heard.
Date and time:
Friday, October 25, 2024 · 12 PM - 2 PM EDT
Location:
Murrow Park 1872-1842 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20006
Why We're Taking Action:
The World Bank claims it’s time to prioritize agriculture and food in the fight against climate change, yet they continue to finance factory farming—a major accelerator of climate change, biodiversity destruction, and community harm. We demand that the World Bank put its money where its mouth is and stop funding this harmful industry.
There is no climate justice without ending the funding of factory farming.
The World Bank cannot fulfill its mission to “end poverty on a livable planet” while continuing to finance the expansion of factory farms in the global south. Join us to demand the bank #StopFinancingFactoryFarming!
Join the Stop Financing Factory Farming campaign and the Big Shift climate rally to pressure the World Bank to end its support for industrial animal agriculture. World Bank: Stop Fueling the Climate Crisis, Fund a Livable Future!
