We’re thrilled to announce that registrations are NOW OPEN for the 2026 World Engineering Day Hackathon!
The World Engineering Day Hackathon is a key celebration of World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development. It focuses on engineering students and is a unique international competition that brings together bright minds from across the globe to tackle some of the world’s most pressing challenges using the power of engineering, creativity, and collaboration to design real-world solutions that advance the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The Theme of World Engineering Day 2026 is:
SMART ENGINEERING FOR A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE THROUGH INNOVATION AND DIGITALISATION
The 2026 Hackathon encompasses this theme with a focus on SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure. building resilient infrastructure, promoting inclusive and sustainable industrialisation, and fostering innovation and digitalisation.
From smarter cities and cleaner energy systems to sustainable transport and equitable digital access, SDG 9 is all about driving progress that benefits both people and the planet.

The World Engineering Day (WED) for Sustainable Development is celebrated on 4th March 2026. The Hackathon runs in the lead-up to this important Day, giving participants the chance to collaborate, problem-solve, and innovate together on a global stage.
