World Obesity Day 2025
Event description
Join us on March 4th to mark World Obesity Day 2025! We are hosting our sixth World Obesity Day seminar with a range of expert speakers across lived experience, weight stigma, obesity prevention, and obesity management and treatment.
This year we will be focusing on the need for action to address inequities in obesity prevalence, access and provision of obesity management and prevention services. We will examine what drives these inequities, the consequences as well as how to address this issue to ensure that the greater community can benefit from effective actions to address obesity.
The global theme of World Obesity Day this year is shining a spotlight on the systems that shape our health. For too long, responses to obesity have focused on individuals, while the systems around us—healthcare, government policies, food environments, media, and workplaces—continue to fail us. It’s time to shift the focus and push for systemic change. Obesity is a complex, chronic disease and a major driver of other conditions like diabetes, heart disease, and cancer. By working together—governments, health professionals, advocates, and the public—we can transform these systems, reduce inequities and create a healthier future for all.
