World Refugee Day Lunch 2025
Event description
WORLD REFUGEE DAY 2025
This year we’re raising funds for some of the world’s most vulnerable refugees – children.
These are young people who have been separated from their parents during conflict or whose parents have died. At the event you will hear about what UNHCR is doing to support and protect these young refugees.
We’re thrilled to announce Fair Work Commissioner Oanh Thi Tran and lawyer and human rights advocate Sajjad Askary as guest speakers. They both came to Australia as young refugees and have gone on to achieve remarkable things.
We will also have a special guest performance from the winner of the 2025 Les Murray Award for Refugee Recognition, Huda Fadlelmawla. Known as Huda the Goddess, she is an acclaimed slam poet and former refugee from Sudan.
