Description

Celebrate World Rivers Day by planting native plants along the Bremer River!

Join us this World Rivers Day along the Bremer River in Shapcott Park to plant native species that restore and revive our waterways.

This project is funded by the Australian Government's Urban Rivers and Catchments Program (URCP), with the support of Ipswich City Council.

Coupled with the delivery of the URCP Bremer River site at Pisces Street, these plantings will help:

  • reduce bank erosion

  • improve water quality

  • increase native habitat

  • restore bankside vegetation.

Additional Activities:

Learn and connect - Get up close to native wildlife with Geckoes Wildlife, including turtles, frogs, and snakes, and learn how these species contribute to healthy and thriving waterways.

Coffee van - First 100 coffees of the day will be free to registered volunteers! Get in quick and sign in at 9am on the day.

Please note:

The planting activity includes loose and sloping surfaces and is near open waters. The activity requires a reasonable level of fitness and balance. Children must be supervised at all times.

Please bring a hat, water bottle and wear enclosed shoes.
