In-Person Workshop | Powered by Clove

If you're looking to reduce waste in your kitchen, then this is the workshop for you. Turn your food scraps into regenerative soil solutions and excess produce into delicious condiments in this hands-on, in-person workshop with sustainability educator Compostable Kate and food waste advocate Alex Elliott-Howery.

Whether you’re composting on a balcony, in a backyard or indoors, Kate will guide you through smart, small-space compost systems like plastic-free worm farms and DIY Bokashi bins. Then, Alex will show you how to make the most of your veggie crisper and fruit bowl with a collection of flavour-packed, low-waste cooking recipes you can recreate at home.

Over 2.5 fun and practical hours, you’ll explore how to close the loop in your kitchen and garden by turning everyday waste into something nourishing, useful and tasty.

What’s on the menu

• How to make and manage a DIY terracotta worm farm for a garden bed or container

• How to make a plant-boosting tea and blend potting mix using worm castings

• How to set up and maintain a Bokashi bin to ferment food waste indoors

• A DIY calcium extract made from eggshells

• A bone-based plant amendment made from reused bones

• Low-waste cooking tips and tricks plus storage solutions and recipes from Alex using ingredients often destined for the scrap bucket

• A Cornersmith grazing plate to enjoy during the session

What you’ll take home

• The materials and composting worms to make your own terracotta worm farm

• A jar of deliciousness made with Alex’s low-waste recipe

• A collection of seasonal recipes by Alex available via Clove
