Welcome to Wormy Disco! 🪩🪱

Wormy Disco' introduces composting to children and young teens (6-14 years old) together with guardians, using basic cut-up/tear & mixing of composting materials, drawing, and coloured lighting, worm sensory systems; and observing what is in a compost bin.

Supervision: Every child must be accompanied by an adult guardian. Teenagers aged 14 and over may attend independently.

About Andrew and his Blank Canvas Residency

An artist-organiser, curator, educator, and researcher, Andrew Gryf Paterson explores how art, digital culture, ecology, and community activism connect. Originally from Scotland and based in Finland for over 25 years, Andrew’s international practice centers on collaborative, commons-oriented projects. They have also been vermi-composting alongside earthworms (Eisenia fetida) for a decade, and debut as VJ Clew. Explore their archived work at http://agryfp.info or follow @agryfp.

During the Blank Canvas residency at the MAKE studio in Ayr, Andrew will build a local vermi-composting site in partnership with local residents and Eisenia fetida worms. Starting with gathered bedding materials and organic waste from the SHAPE café, they will build a growing compost bin system alongside public workshops on worm composting, circular bio-waste systems, and VJing culture. The residency will culminate in CompostRave, a live celebration featuring VJs, a DJ, and dancing to mark the end of the month long residency.

Founded in June 2020 by artist father and daughter Robert and Saskia Singer, Narture CIC began by reclaiming empty town centre units and turning them into spaces for culture, food and connection. It has since grown into a network of creative, community-focused spaces across Ayr, grounded in the belief that:

everyone is an artist.

At the heart of Narture is its award-winning sourdough bakery — a working artisan bakery that bakes real bread to earn the dough to fund arts. Every loaf helps subsidise studios, residencies, workshops and public programmes. The bakery also operates as a training space, equipping young people and those from diverse or marginalised backgrounds with specialist, hands-on skills in artisan baking and hospitality. Surplus profits are reinvested directly into creative and community projects, supporting town centre regeneration and widening access to cultural participation. Across its studios and residency space, Narture provides affordable workspaces, a community darkroom and Risograph printer, exhibitions, talks and workshops.

In 2026, Narture expands further with the launch of Shape — a larger food and arts hub offering community meals, events and creative programmes that strengthen skills, confidence and connection. Working across food, creativity and wellbeing, Narture continues to transform vacant buildings into practical, inclusive spaces where people can make, learn, earn and belong.
