Event description
Worship Queer Collective celebrates 3 years of their Queer Asian Excellence movement with Worship B’day: Day & Night Festival on Saturday 7th December 2024!
Taking place at Inner West Pride Centre (fka Newtown Town Hall), Worship Bday will include workshops, music, performances, food and a community fashion show.
Featuring some of Sydney’s most influential and up and coming Queer Asian/BIPOC artists and trailblazers, this event is a safe space for Queers, Asians, BIPOC, friends and allies.
This is a free event but donations are highly encouraged. We are a community and artist led collective run by volunteers. 100% of your contribution will go towards future projects and our artists.

Schedule:
1.00pm: Grant Writing 101 by Dr Naomi Koh Belic and Dyan Tai
- A hands on, interactive workshop that will cover fundamental grant writing skills. This is also an opportunity for attendees to review successful grant applications.
- 2 hour workshop followed by optional: 1-1 grant feedback session with Naomi and Dyan Tai.
- Limited spots and strictly by registrations only. NO WALK INS ALLOWED
- Workshop is open to all levels and experience. Friends and allies invited to register with priority given to BIPOC, LGBTQI+ independent artists.

3.30pm: Drag Workshop by Ivory Glaze and Star Gayze
- Get ready with Ivory Glaze (Drag Race Down Under) and Star Gayze (Creature Preacher)… watch how they put together their signature mug from start to finish.
- 2 hour workshop suitable for all levels and experience
- You are required to BYO makeup. Attendees will be sent a list of recommended products.
- Limited spots and strictly by registrations only. NO WALK INS ALLOWED
- Workshop is open to all levels and experience. Friends and allies invited to register with priority given to BIPOC, LGBTQI+ independent artists.

6.00pm: Doors open to main event - Resident DJs and food by SNACK ME HARDER
6.30pm: BIPOC Creatives Community Panel
- Hosted by Dyan Tai with guest speakers Jamaica Moana, Kween G, 3Awadi.
- This is an intimate discussion of how to navigate the evolving arts and music industry in Australia as BIPOC creatives; and tips and advice on overcoming challenges especially for new and emerging artists.
- This is open to all ticket holders and general public
8.00pm: Opening speech by Clr Darcy Byrne (Inner West Council), MP Jenny Leong (Greens Member for Newtown) & Worship Queer Collective founder, Dyan Tai
8.30pm: “Threads” Community Fashion Show curated by Genesis Mansilongan & hosted by Jamaica Moana.
Handpicked models will strut the community catwalk adorned in what represents and pays tribute to their Queer Asian lineage.
Models: LinhQu, Von, Rohan, Bonnie, Marvic, Yvonne, Mami Mai-Tai, Taj, Fried Pork Chop, London, Jimin, Ben, Salem, Nury.
9:00pm: Performance art by Treacle Matter, Lux and Von (Club Chrome) and Shaymla (Bindi Bosses)
9.30pm Secret Headliner DJ
10.30pm Finish
