Host: Emily Brugman
Theme: Exploring Symbolism and Metaphor (+ it's NANoWriMo!)
10am - 11am - Symbolism and Metaphor
In this meeting we will explore examples of metaphor and symbolism in fiction. Emily will tell us about how she used these techniques in The Islands, and how she is attempting to make use of them in her current writing project. The group will then attempt to incorporate symbolism and/or metaphor in a piece of their own.
11am - 12pm - Quiet Writing Time for Day 1 of NANoWriMo
It's also the first day of National Novel Writing Month in the US. NaNoWrMo began in 1999 as a daunting but straightforward challenge: to write 50,000 words of a novel in thirty days. Now, each year on November 1, hundreds of thousands of people around the world begin to write, determined to end the month with a first draft. So why not stay on after the first hour and write as much as we can while we have use of the space?
About Emily:
