    1. Dorothy Simmons Literary Lunch with Shirley Le - 12:30pm, Atura

An intimate conversation with writer, Shirley Le, as she discusses her debut novel, Funny Ethnics. Shirley is a Vietnamese-Australian writer from Yagoona and her book is a droll and witty insight into growing up in Western Sydney. Includes a two-course lunch and wine on arrival. The Dorothy Simmons Literary Lunch is an annual WAM event. “Dotti” Simmons was an Irish-Australian writer and teacher resident in Albury. Her published work spans novels (young adult to historical fiction), award-winning short stories, micro fiction and poetry. Dotti was involved with Write Around the Murray from the very beginning as an advisory committee member. She short-listed the short story competitions, volunteered at every festival and was an enthusiastic participant in author conversations, workshops, poetry events and Stereo Stories dinners. Dotti was a memorable contributor to an historical fiction panel with Jock Serong and Anita Heiss during her palliative care. Dotti died on 1 November 2021. She was 71 years old. The Dorothy Simmons Literary Lunch honours the myriad ways that Dotti contributed to the broader writing community as a literary citizen and as a questing, questioning human being. www.dorothysimmons.org *Please note bookings close Wednesday 11 September at 2pm
