Event description

Book now for this FREE writing workshop

We all have stories to tell the only difficulty is getting started. This is a workshop to help you to get the words flowing. So come and get the impetus to put pen to paper, or your fingers to the keyboard if you prefer, and write that story.

It’s easy once you know how.

Based on the story-telling ideas of renowned storyteller Keith Johnstone, the workshop will take you from the familiar, to the world of imagination in 90 minutes.

All you need to bring is pen and paper or laptop, and some memories, a few thoughts to add, and you will have the basis of a good story, whether it’s a good yarn, a tall tale, exploration of an inner world, or a venture into science fiction. The choice is up to you.

Although this workshop is about writing you will do some talking. You will start by working in pairs. All will be revealed on the day!

Come in casual clothes so you can relax and enjoy the fun. We will do some sharing of stories in a supportive encouraging atmosphere.

The tutor has plenty of experience in creating stories. Adriann Smith is a multimedia storyteller. She has worked in radio, video, and print. As an actor, director, writer and teacher her connection to the text of storytelling is immediate. So come along and write it.

Bookings required. RSVP to gonville@whanganuilibrary.com.
