Writeasy: No Typewriters / No Talking Extended Edition

No Typewriters / No Talking invites you to our first ever Writeasy, an extended session of silent writing (with no typewriters allowed).

Writers of any stage, genre, format, or style are invited to come work silently together for an afternoon in the beautiful backdrop of North Fitzroy’s 75 Reid Street.

There will be 3 hours of silent writing time with short breaks, non-alcoholic drinks, a guest speaker, food and more 👇

How it’s going to work

What you get by attending

• 3 hours of dedicated writing in the beautiful space at 75 Reid St,
• 1 limited edition No Typewriters / No Talking notebook by local Off–Line Supply Co,
• 1 Lousy Ink pen, the perfect pairing for your notebook,
• 1 (non-alcoholic) drink on entry + coffee/tea/water available,
• an insight into the creative process from Ruby Gill (see below for more info on why she is amazing), and
• a light feed to replenish your brain after all that writing.

Tickets

Early bird: $45 + plus Humanitix fees (until Sunday 22 September)

Late bird: $50 + plus Humanitix fees

First Nations / Concession / Student: $40 + plus Humanitix fees

Guest speaker: Ruby Gill

Musician, poet, writer, No Typewriters / No Talking attendee, and all-round-awesome human Ruby Gill will speak to us about creativity, the magic of short form, obscure prompting, and how moving to a different medium often unlocks something in the other one. She might even perform a song or two.

What to bring

• Something to write with/on. It could be a pen on notepad, fingers on laptop, quill on vellum — anything you want, just not a gosh darn typewriter.

What not to bring

• Your typewriter
• Talking points, conversation topics, and/or a loquacious attitude

What will be provided

• Tables to rest your writing implements on
• A chair to rest yourself on
• Water and various receptacles to hold said water
• Prompts for you to write about (if you don't have anything you are currently working on)
• Coffee by Wood and Co Coffee + a selection of teas
• A selection of non-alcoholic drinks will be on sale including beers by Molly Rose

Once the writing is over, you can stay for food provided by Glory Us and a non-alcoholic drink to, you know, chat.
