Writing Artist Statements & Pricing Creative Work
Event description
As an artist, do you struggle to describe yourself succinctly or to hit the right price point for your work?
Creative Bay of Plenty is facilitating a half day workshop that will:
Provide you with the tools to understand how to explain and contextualise your work practice; and
Introduce you to terminology and established methods of cost pricing for your work.
The workshop will be delivered by independent curator, Liz Cooper, whose knowledge comes from running her own business and working for small arts organisations. Limited to 16 participants, the format will include case studies and practical exercises, with participants developing their own draft artist statement and a sample cost-based price for an aspect of their work. This workshop will suit those working in visual arts, craft/object, design and consultancy.
When: 9.30am-1pm, Thursday 16 October 2025 (including morning tea)
Where: The Kollective, 145 Seventeenth Ave, Tauranga
Cost: $38 per person
Bring: Notebook/paper and pen, or laptop/tablet for note taking
