Description

A one-hour session for practising writers, hobbyist writers, or anyone interested in writing, to bring their writing or publishing questions and get personalised suggestions and feedback.

Proudly hosted and run by The Word Corner's founder, Dr Kathleen Mendan (you can visit Kathleen's Linkedin profile here).

Sessions are run in small groups of three.

Sessions can be run face-to-face (local café location) or online (note: Thursday sessions are online only. If you are outside of the Ringwood North area please book an online session or get in touch to discuss your needs).

$30 (including a regular cup of coffee/tea) for face-to-face sessions, $25 for online.

Please note: Face-to-face sessions will only run in the Ringwood North or immediate Ringwood North area. If you are outside this area please book a Thursday online session.

December dates will be released end of November.

Our Philosophy

The Word Corner was established to celebrate the power of writing and its ability to generate creative wellbeing and facilitate connection and community. We explore this through our own practices and by creating opportunities for others to discover and develop theirs.

What We Do

Through creative writing, we create opportunities for people of different ages, backgrounds and experiences to explore their creativity, develop their ideas and connect through words. Here's how we can collaborate:

1. EXPLORE | Creative confidence for children

Creative writing resources, worksheets and booklets, alongside coaching and writing sessions for home-schooled children, students at small schools, and young writers looking for extension and creative challenge. The focus is on nurturing imagination, developing the writing craft, and fostering creative confidence.

2. EXPRESS | Creative wellbeing and writing outcomes for adults

Small-group writing coaching for adults working towards a writing goal, alongside individual and small-group sessions that create space for reflection, self-expression and creative exploration. Whether you're developing a writing project or simply looking to make more room for creativity in your life, there's value in giving yourself the opportunity to write.

3. CREATE & PUBLISH | Support for writers

Manuscript editing and proofreading, plus practical self-publishing advisory sessions for aspiring and independent authors. From refining your manuscript to navigating publishing decisions, we offer support to help you develop your work and bring it to readers.

4. CONNECT | Creativity in community

Creative writing workshops, interactive activities and creative activations for community events and organisations. These experiences invite people within a community or organisation to participate, share ideas, explore their creativity and build connections through engaging, accessible activities.
