    Event description

Dialogue. Man, that can be tricky.

We think we can do it well. But often we can only put ourselves into one voice. It is so hard to isolate and think across myriad personalities. Why are characters so tricky?

In this workshop you will be offered four different access points in isolating and communicating four different techniques. Habitual syntax, subtext, interior voice, and effective use of big print will be the cornerstones of this workshop. Practical and active in its learning, this workshop will offer you tools to deepen your dialogue. It will then give space for you to apply those tools in small group scene building exercises. Practical and active, this workshop isn’t about rules. It is about tools.

    Format

This is a live stream workshop with a focus on craft; it will be held online via Zoom. It is a level 1 course and is suitable to attend for writers of all levels: beginners, intermediate and emerging. A 7-day replay will be made available to participants.

Complimentary access to this workshop is available to all Scriptable 2023 applicants - please select the free Applicant Admission ticket type. Other Queensland Writers Centre members and the public may attend with a paid ticket.
