Facilitator: Jason Fischer

Whether you're writing your first short story or looking to polish your submission process, this interactive workshop explores how to create compelling fantasy fiction that readers remember. We'll examine how to set yourself up as a professional writer of short fiction, learn some brainstorming and storytelling tools, and build an original fantasy concept together through a lively group worldbuilding exercise. Along the way, you'll learn practical industry skills including understanding submission guidelines, tracking your submissions, and finding markets for your work. Expect plenty of audience participation, unexpected twists, and useful advice you can apply to your own writing as soon as you get home.

🌀 Create an original fantasy story concept through an interactive worldbuilding exercise full of surprises.

🌀 Learn some brainstorming and storytelling skills.

🌀 Gain practical tools for submitting your work, including finding markets, reading submission guidelines, and organising a submission tracker.

Bring along your favourite writing and creating tools (laptop, tablet, notebooks or your lucky pen!). Paper and pens will be available.

Anyone under the age of 14 must be attended by a parent or guardian.

We present quirky, unique and memorable experiences created and curated by regional artists and thinkers: audio walking tours, immersive theatre, collaborative writing projects, visual arts exhibitions, video game jams, intimate concerts and creative based workshop tasters.

We are inspired by DIY culture, contemporary & experimental art, entrepreneurial thinking, community service and a ferocious pursuit of “how could this be better?”
