‬‭A Three-Part Online Workshop Series for AARES Members‬

‭This comprehensive three-session workshop series is designed to enhance the writing skills of researchers across agricultural and resource economics. Each 90-minute‬ session builds systematically on the previous one, providing participants with practical tools‬ to strengthen their writing and leverage AI effectively in their writing‬ practice.‬

The series addresses fundamental writing challenges whilst integrating cutting-edge AI tools,‬ ensuring participants develop both solid foundational skills and contemporary approaches to‬ academic writing.‬ Delivered by Jason Downs from On The Reg,

November 12th 9:30- 11:00 AWST / 12:30-14:00 AEDT (Wednesday)

November 19th 9:30- 11:00 AWST / 12:30-14:00 AEDT (Wednesday)

November 27th 9:30- 11:00 AWST / 12:30-14:00 AEDT (Thursday)

‭Workshop Series Overview‬

‭Session 1: Writing Logically Connected Sentences (12 Nov 9.30-11am AWST)‬

‭This foundational session focuses on the building blocks of clear academic argument.‬ Participants will learn how to construct sentences that flow seamlessly together, creating‬ compelling and logical prose that guides readers effortlessly through complex ideas.‬

Session 2: Powerful Introductions and Conclusions (19 Nov 9.30-11am AWST)‬

‭Building on the sentence-level skills from Session 1, this workshop explores how to craft‬ compelling openings and endings for academic papers. Participants will learn to create‬ introductions that engage readers and conclusions that reinforce their research‬ contributions.‬

‭Session 3: AI-Enhanced Academic Writing (27 Nov 9.30-11am AWST)‬

‭This final session demonstrates how to leverage AI tools to enhance the writing techniques‬ learned in Sessions 1 and 2. Participants will explore practical applications of AI for‬ improving sentence flow, refining introductions and conclusions, and streamlining their‬ overall writing process.‬
