Writing, Pitching & Funding: The Trinity of being an Artist in the 21st Century is a free full-day workshop that looks at our relationship to writing - writing for self, writing for our communities and writing for funding. The workshop is led by experienced Moana creative, Zech Soakai.Â
Zech Soakai is a tusitala, educator, writer, village-builder, warrior-raiser and empty-calendar-filler. Hailing from Poutasi, Falealili, Samoa & Pangai, Ha'apai, Tonga he stands on the shoulders of giants, to hopefully one day offer his own shoulders for those who need it. Zech Soakai's work spans across the arts, community and education sectors. His poetry writing can be found in Katuivei: Contemporary Pasifika Poetry from Aotearoa New Zealand, and Rapture: An Anthology of Performance Poetry from Aotearoa New Zealand, and he is currently producing for the show LEIOLA, set to debut in 2025.
