Readers know that every romance novel has a happy ending, but our task as writers is to keep them guessing. Learn how to develop characters your readers really care about and how to balance their experience of falling in love with believable obstacles, tension and conflict.

  • Investigate the difference between external and internal conflict
  • Discuss the best ways to maintain tension while building romance

      

    Format

    This is an online workshop with a focus on craft; it will be hosted via Zoom. This workshop is suitable for writers of all levels and writing backgrounds.

     

    About Barbara

    Barbara Hannay writes women’s fiction with over 12 million books sold world- wide. Her stories set in Australia have been translated into 26 languages and have been published by Penguin Australia, Harlequin Mills and Boon and Tule USA.

    She has won the coveted Rita Award from Romance Writers of America and has been short-listed five times. Two of Barbara’s novels have also won the Romance Writers of Australia's best book award. The film and television rights to one of these novels was acquired by leading Canadian studio, Brain Power, and was released internationally in 2020.
