Event description

Do you have a true story you’d like to set down? An event, a discovery, or a moment in time?

Learn how to write powerful short stories drawn from real life with Bravewords.

There’s a special satisfaction that comes from capturing a true story and sharing it with others. It’s an act of defiance and joy.

In this 4-week course, you'll explore how writers play with language, imagery and scenes to create compelling narratives. You'll learn how to weave together facts, feelings and reflections to create vivid stories that speak from the heart.

You'll be guided to develop your own 2,000 word true story with group feedback and individual mentoring by author Adrienne Ferreira.

Understand how an anecdote is different to a story and how to write about your experience so that it conveys something meaningful.

With a focus on structure and voice, you’ll be encouraged to draft and dive deeper into your subject to build a powerful piece that moves others.

Saturday mornings 9.30am-12.30pm 10th to 31st May 2025 at the Erina Centre, Meeting Room 3, Erina Fair.

Fee includes 12 hours total class time, plus editing on your story, up to 2,000 words.
