Theme: DIASPORA DREAMING

How would we write if it was just US in the the room? What would we say? How would we say it? How would the would the words dance on the page? What are we able to conjure when not on guard? When not in the presence of the reason we're apart in the first place. Y'all let me be real. I really just want us all together. Being whole for 3 hours while existing in a deeply and frantically unfree world. Experimenting with sound & body & music & and dialect in our poetry.

Content: We will start with intros a grounding and community agreements. We will read poems from Black poets who have conjured and survived. We will discuss them and I will provide prompts in relation to each poem. We will have time to share out. We will take 2 breaks, 1 at each hour.

* Note: this is not an alternative to rage, grief, exhaustion. Because those are natural responses to the horrors. This is an addition. This is not a glossing over or stuffing down. We must feel. We must feel together and openly and loudly.*
