Legal obligations with coaches, officials and the consultants you engage

A recent tax tribunal decision involving Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) has found that football referees are self-employed for tax purposes (see article that explores this case here). But how does that connect to individual employment status?

In this WSA Lunchtime Learning session (endorsed by CIMSPA), Ahmed Al-Mayahi, Solicitor in Hugh James' Employment and HR Services team, will explore the factors a tribunal is likely to consider when determining employment status, including what factors point towards worker or employee status, and why that matters, both for your legal obligations and for understanding your relationship with the coaches, officials and consultants you engage.

WSA Partners, Hugh James will unpack these factors to help you understand legal employment status in its various forms, with questions and answers at the end of the session.
